It pays to be
more Energy
Efficient

Australia has one of the highest per capita outputs of carbon dioxide in the world. The average household directly outputs about 14 tonnes of CO2 each year, 8 tonnes of which is the in-home use of coal-fired electricity (the rest is mostly car transport, other energy and household garbage)

As a fact of life, the environmental cost of carbon will be factored in to everything we use, so it pays to be more energy aware.

The Wattwatchers Community

The Wattwatchers Community is all about providing the information and understandings of what we can do to be more energy efficient. There's a whole new world of Government incentives, energy retail plans, new technologies, renewable energy, building materials and energy-efficient products on its way, which makes it difficult for most householders to evaluate. The Wattwatcher Community is being designed to provide the facts and learn from each other through forums, blogs, references and research.

Say G'day to Watto

Watto is a very important part of the Wattwatcher Community, especially to get the kids involved. He's a friendly little character, but don't let his size fool you. He's very knowledgeable when it comes to energy-efficiency - and clicking his button will send him off into the ether to find the answers you need.

Join the Wattwatchers WebPoll now to make a difference

Very little research has been conducted into what households know about their use of energy or how to save it, or its relationship with our environment.

By registering with the Wattwatchers WebPoll, we are asking you to join other households to participate anonymously in regular on-line surveys, and share your views on household and community concerns specific to energy savings, energy efficiency and carbon reduction.

Your answers and opinions will help everyone to understand these issues. Results of these polls will be tabulated, published and sent to opinion leaders and decision-makers in government, business and the community sectors in order to help shape public policy. Your identity will remain anonymous, and you will be sent a copy of all the poll results on-line.

If contributing to a poll isn't 'you', please pass this on to someone in your family who may want to participate, or friends who may be interested.
